3 more repeat offenders arrested by ACT’s Operation TORIC

ACT Policing’s Operation TORIC has arrested three more people in the past two days for a range of serious offences including drug driving, drug trafficking, dangerous driving, and breaching parole.

A 35-year-old man who was subject to an intensive corrections order and a 28-year-old woman will face court today charged with multiple offences following a fail to stop incident in Fyshwick yesterday, Tuesday 11 October.

About 12.35pm, officers from Operation TORIC observed the pair travelling in a grey Subaru Liberty enter the underground car park of the Canberra Outlet Centre.

The pair were subsequently arrested, with police deploying a conducted energy weapon (Taser) in order to take the man into custody.

The man has been charged with drive while disqualified, fail to stop for police, breach of intensive corrections order, and drug driving.

The woman has been charged with drug trafficking, fail to appear in court and to answer an existing arrest warrant.

They are both expected to face court today where police will oppose bail.

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with drug trafficking, fail to appear in court and to answer an existing arrest warrant, following her arrest in Fyshwick yesterday.

These arrests come a day after Operation TORIC members arrested another 28-year-old woman in Gungahlin.

She was charged with seven offences, including fail to stop for police, dangerous driving, unlicensed driving, fail to appear in court after a bail undertaking, breach of parole, breach of a good behaviour order, and breach of a treatment order.

Operation TORIC continues to target high risk offending on ACT roads with a focus on repeat offenders.

To date, Operation TORIC has made more than 80 apprehensions and laid more than 200 charges.
