Two arrested after wild brawl at Siren Bar in Gungahlin

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a significant brawl that resulted in two arrests and multiple injured people.

About 8.25pm on Saturday night 22 April, officers were called to Siren Bar in Gungahlin following reports of a violent disturbance. 

Chairs, tables and bottles were used as weapons during the brawl with several people, including uninvolved patrons, sustaining injuries.  

Gungahlin police officers initially responded, however the number of people involved, and the continuation of violence led to the attendance of officers from the City, Operation TORIC, Crime Detectives, Road Policing, PACER and the Territory Targeting Team.

Two men were arrested and charged with with the indictable offence of affray and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today Monday 24 April. 

Police would like to speak to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police including anyone who may have mobile phone footage of the incident.  

North District’s Detective Superintendent Mick Calatzis said it is disappointing to see police resources being diverted away from other priority jobs.  

“We don’t tolerate any type of violence and our officers did a great job in their response and identifying those who we will allege committed these offences.”
