True tranquillity in Rosedale

This unique, Bert Read-designed home in the NSW South Coast suburb of Rosedale is the ultimate tranquil retreat, overlooking the bush and the beautiful Tranquil Bay.

According to Blackshaw Coastal’s Pat Jameson, “this home is about nature”.

“It imbues a sense of calm and wellbeing as soon as you step inside. It is a magical environment surrounded with flora and fauna and teeming with bird life,” she says.

“You can lie in bed and hear waves breaking on the nearby shore of Tranquil Bay beach. The owners have heard whales resting in the waters surrounding the headland on their journey back to the Antarctic.”

The home consists of six pods, all connected by undercover hardwood walkways. Four pods house bedrooms, three with ensuite, while one houses a shed and a bathroom/laundry. The sixth pod is designed for living and coming together, with a kitchen, open-plan living space, fireplace and a ladder to a mezzanine pod in the roof.

“The home is beautiful. It is built and nurtured by the finest architects and builders and it is totally integrated into its natural environment,” Jameson says. The home sits nestled among spotted gums, between Rosedale and Guerilla Bay.

“It has filtered 210-degree views of the crystal blue ocean.”

“The home is embedded into its forest environment and is protected from the ravages of coastal living. The forest also tempers the extreme temperatures and on the warmest of days the home retains a comfortable temperature.”

Renovated in 2013, the home was awarded a Master Builders Award for the best renovation in its class, and Jameson says it is the ideal home for those who appreciate beautiful craft.

“This home is about quality of life. It is unique and special and accommodates privacy and communal living simultaneously,” she says.

“The home is minutes [from] Tranquil Bay, Nuns and Rosedale beaches, with direct bush pathways leading from the front veranda.”
