The ACT Government has announced it will fund upgrades to four local shopping centres as part of a $65.1 million budget investment to strengthen frontline city services, improve amenities, and maintain parks and green spaces.
Chisholm, Cooleman Court, Kingston, and Kippax shops will receive new seating, lighting, crossings, paving, and landscaping.
The Budget will also fund an active travel path between Hall and Gold Creek; a public toilet at Umbagong District Park, Latham; and stormwater infrastructure for Hall Village.
The government will progress design work on the Belconnen to City Transitway, including bus priority measures along Haydon Drive and Belconnen Way.
The Budget will also fund city services, including mowing, street sweeping and horticultural services, as well as new murals on major road corridors.
Bushfire risk reduction in nature reserves and parks will continue, including fire trail maintenance, prescribed burns and vegetation maintenance.
Access Canberra will receive extra funding for frontline services.
“From green spaces and safe reserves to vibrant local shopping precincts, this investment is about making sure the places that anchor our suburbs remain welcoming, well-maintained and fit for the needs of our community,” Tara Cheyne MLA, Minister for City and Government Services, said.
