ACT courthouse evacuated after bomb threat

The ACT Law Courts have been evacuated this norming after a bomb threat, with the public urged to avoid the area.

At about 11am, Friday 31 January, the ACT Courts building was evacuated after an alarm went off. Staff and members of the public were moved away from the building with ACT Policing closing off nearby roads.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said multiple officers and the AFP bomb response team are responding to the threat.

“ACT Policing and the AFP Bomb Response Team are responding to a threat at the ACT Law Courts this morning,” they said.

“The Law Courts have been evacuated as a precaution while police investigate the matter.

“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.”
