ACT records two COVID-19 deaths, 1316 cases

The ACT has reported two new COVID-19 related deaths along with 1,316 new cases.

There have now been 18 total COVID fatalities in the ACT since the beginning of the pandemic.

There are 41 people in ACT hospitals, including three people in intensive care, two of them on ventilation.

ACT Health said the two deaths involve a man in his 50s and a man in his 90s.

“ACT Health extends its sincere condolences to their families and friends at this difficult time,” it said in a statement on Sunday.

There are now 3,257 active cases in Canberra with the total number of infections up to 22,396.

The ACT has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country, with 98.6 per cent of those aged 12 and over having had two doses.

Of those residents aged 18 and over, 28.1 per cent have received their booster shot, while 15.3 per cent of residents aged 5-11 have received one dose.
