Canberra’s best Christmas lights for 2023

With Christmas just weeks away, Canberra is ablaze with festive lights, creating a citywide spectacle that’s not to be missed.

The most extravagant Christmas homes in the city go beyond the usual LED displays, featuring inflatable Santas, reindeer, music, lasers, projections, fully lit roofs and creatively adorned gardens with interactive archways.

Whether you’re on the northside or southside of Canberra, there’s a dazzling display waiting for you and your family to enjoy.

With charity collection buckets scattered around, it’s the perfect opportunity to spread joy and support local causes while immersing yourself in the holiday spirit.

Ngunnawal

Beela Place’s whole front and side is intricately decorated with colourful lights, Christmas statures and festive music to listen to as you explore the walk-around displays.

Dunlop

No doubt one of the suburbs with largest Christmas light displays in Canberra, there’s plenty to explore in Dunlop.

Triton Street has several houses with Christmas light displays, so make a night of exploring everything they have to offer. From inflatables, colourful lights covering the house, room and trees, music playing and moving decorations, there’s plenty to help you enjoy the Christmas cheer.

The roof display and huge garden display of inflatables at Hobday Place are also not to be missed, plus there are ample locations for photos, like the arches by the garage.

Scurry Street often has multiple houses lighting it up, but this one particular house has a multitude of lights and inflatables, and being a corner house, it’s enjoyed by all those passing by. The owner loves bringing people together, especially seeing the children’s faces. If it’s not raining, you’ll even get to see the 5-metre Santa and reindeer.

While driving around, make sure to check out Elischer Street too, and take a photo under one of the numerous colourful tunnel arches.

Ainslie

You can’t miss the large display of inflatables at Foveaux Street, including Santa, elves and gingerbread men, plus plenty of colourful lights. The large display is active all day, too, as the owners love to spread happiness and cheer.

Stirling

After a year’s break, Crowder Circuit is back to support Camp Quality with its large Christmas light display with inflatables, statues, music and lights hanging from the eaves. Stop by to see what you can spot in the bushes!

Fisher

As one of the best places to see Christmas lights this year, Fisher has numerous Christmas light displays on offer.

You can’t miss Ballarat Street with its bright and colourful display, perfect for families to explore every nook and cranny. With inflatables, statues and inflatables, all donations support the Starlight Foundation.

Also in Fisher, check out the colossal Christmas tree and Santa’s sleigh at Kambalda Crescent or the Australian animal inflatables at Ardlethan Street, with its arch to take photos under.

Gowrie

Stop by one of the best Christmas lights Canberra 2023, at Middleton Circuit, featuring thousands of lights, lasers and window displays. Walk through the festive setup and purchase handmade gifts and treats, with Kay’s Christmas shop, and Kay’s renowned Rocky Road, open every night from December 1 to 23, and all donations support local cancer charities.

While there, also make sure to head over to another of the best Christmas lights Canberra at Ruthven Street, with it being one of the largest solar light displays in Australia! Walk around, dance to festive music and support the owners’ chosen cause of multiple sclerosis. Stacy Street is also a top destination for southside Christmas lights enthusiasts.

Gordon

Gordon is also one of the best places to see Christmas lights this year, known for its festive Christmas lights, with a variety of beautifully decorated streets to explore.

Clem Hill Street, for example, offers plenty of photo opportunities, with Santa’s sleigh and bright lights all over the trees, house and driveway.

Oxley

The stunning light display at Newman-Morris Circuit features a light show that is synchronised to music, so you can sing and dance while you take in the dazzling lights, that use over 46,000 LED pixels. With lit-up arches, stars, candy canes, snowflakes, trees and a large matrix, it’s a great display for all ages!

Calwell

O’Connor Circuit’s two-story house display likes to go big and bright. This year’s display is bigger and brighter, including a gingerbread house Santa workshop and large, festive statues.

Conder

All the lights at Eaglemont Retreat are synchronised to Christmas music, so make sure to tune into 93.5FM while here. Up and close, there are also singing props for the kids, like Bluey and Minions figures.
