Canberra Liberals: Get Molonglo Moving

Liberal MLA for Murrumbidgee Ed Cocks has launched a community campaign to โ€˜Get Molonglo Movingโ€™ aimed at addressing traffic congestion in the Molonglo Valley.

The campaign comes on the back of extensive community consultation by Mr Cocks with the people of Molonglo, who overwhelmingly raised traffic congestion as one of the main issues they are facing.

โ€œMolonglo Valley has some of the worst traffic problems in the ACT, and the Labor-Greens government has been unable or unwilling to address the problem,โ€ Mr Cocks said.

โ€œWith our limited road connections, and rapidly growing population, it was a predictable problem. Traffic congestion did not need to get this bad, but the government hasnโ€™t listened.

โ€œNo-one likes being stuck in traffic all the time, and it shouldnโ€™t be a barrier to spending time with family, going shopping, or going out with friends.

โ€œThis campaign will show the Government how congestion is impacting our community, and push for real solutions.โ€

Mr Cocks also pointed to the impact of Molonglo Valleyโ€™s traffic problems on other areas, stating: โ€œThe traffic problems in Molonglo have become so bad they now impact surrounding areas including Weston Creek, Belconnen, Woden and Weston Creek.

โ€œAs more people move into the Molonglo Valley, the problem is only going to get worse. I am launching this campaign and pushing for real solutions to Molongloโ€™s congestion problems.โ€
