Canberra Raiders 2024 NRL draw revealed

The Canberra Raiders will host a number of big matches at GIO Stadium after the 2024 NRL draw was released today.

The Raiders kick-start their season with a Thursday night blockbuster when they head to Newcastle for a rematch of this year’s thrilling Elimination Final. Canberra’s first home game is in round two against the Wests Tigers on Saturday afternoon.

GIO Stadium will play host to just 11 NRL matches, with the Magic Round clash in Brisbane against the Bulldogs counting as a home match for the Raiders.

Perhaps the most anticipated match up of the Raiders’ season will be when Jack Wighton returns to Canberra to go up against his old side for the first time. Fans will have to wait until round 21 when the Bunnies come to the nation’s capital for a Sunday night clash.

The Raiders have been given a somewhat favourable draw compared to where teams finished last year. Of the eight teams Canberra play twice, four of them finished in the top 8 last year and they avoid playing last year’s powerhouses in Penrith and Brisbane twice. The teams they play twice include: Warriors (3rd in 2023), Knights (5th), Sharks (6th), Roosters (7th), Cowboys (11th), Sea Eagles (12th), Bulldogs (15th) and Tigers (17th).

There will be two NRL/NRLW doubleheaders at GIO Stadium, on Saturday 10 August and Saturday 24 August.
