Canberra woman’s $2.5m lotto win

A Casey woman is $2.5 million richer after purchasing a lottery ticket on Saturday – then forgetting she had entered.

โ€œThank you so much. It was a huge surprise to wake up to,โ€ she told a The Lott official.

โ€œI thought I was dreaming at first. I genuinely had to pinch myself.

โ€œIโ€™ve had my coffee now, so itโ€™s sunk in a bit more, but Iโ€™m still trying to wrap my head around it.

โ€œIโ€™ve never had something like this. Gosh, I canโ€™t believe I can say Iโ€™m a millionaire.”

The woman said she had completely forgotten she had entered.

“I play now and then when thereโ€™s a big draw on, so I donโ€™t always check right away,” she said.

โ€œI just got the smallest entry you could choose for a QuickPick, which was six games. Iโ€™m completely blown away.โ€

The woman said she would spend the money on purchasing a home and going on a coastal getaway.

She was one of eight division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4559, drawn on the 29 March 2025. Each division one winning entry pocketed $2.5 million.

It comes just four days after a group of mates from Casey won $100,000 in the Lucky Lotteries draw on 25 March, after purchasing tickets in a pool on a weekly basis for five years.

The Canberra residents held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10949.

Their winning entry was purchased at Cignall Casey at Casey Market Town.
