Coppins Crossing Road closed on Thursday

Coppins Crossing Road, between Holborow Avenue and Hazel Hawke Avenue, will be closed this Thursday, 5 February from 2am-3pm for work on the new Molonglo River Bridge.

During the closure, concrete will be poured on the recently installed precast deck slabs on the bridge structure over Coppins Crossing Road.

The following detours are in place (see attached map) during all closures of Coppins Crossing Road:

  • Southbound from Belconnen: From William Hovell Drive, take the off ramp to Parkes Way and merge onto Tuggeranong Parkway.
  • Northbound from Molonglo Valley: From John Gorton Drive, turn onto Cotter Road then follow the ramp onto Tuggeranong Parkway and take left exit at Glenloch interchange to merge onto William Hovell Drive.

The safety of road users, the public, and other personnel who are on and around the project site are of the highest priority, Infrastructure Canberra said.

As it is the first week of school, the road will re‑open by 3pm so parents can pick up their children from school and afternoon traffic can commute.

Later this year, further roads will need to be closed; the community will be kept informed once dates are finalised.

Infrastructure Canberra advised motorists to rethink their routine; avoid travel during peak periods, where possible; and, if they must travel, plan ahead and leave extra time for their journey.
