There’s plenty to see, do and discover when the ACT Seniors and Better Ageing Expo returns to the Old Bus Depot Building in Kingston on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September as part of ACT Seniors Month.
With more than 150 exhibitors, the Expo brings together organisations from across Canberra offering information, advice, services and activities for older people and their families. Visitors can explore everything from aged care, home support and retirement living to health and wellbeing, legal and financial advice, community groups, hobbies and social activities.
It’s also a chance to have conversations and get answers to questions you may have about ageing, staying active and connected or planning for the future.
Getting to the Expo is easy, with public transport free for seniors during the event. Transport Canberra’s R2 and R6 bus services provide convenient connections to Kingston, while those driving can use free parking at the Fyshwick Park & Ride and catch the R2 directly to the Expo. A FREE Northside Community Service shuttle will also run regularly from the National Library forecourt at Parkes Place West.
And there’s more to the Expo than information. Visitors can enjoy coffee, food and a break from browsing, with local vendors offering everything from Ethiopian cuisine and crêpes to baked treats and coffee.
The Community Stage will feature live entertainment and special events across both days. Highlights include the Australian Rugby Choir on Wednesday, a quiet hour on Wednesday afternoon and the Royal Military College Band on Thursday morning.
Whether you come with a specific question, want to discover what’s available in your community or simply fancy a great day out, the Expo is an opportunity to connect, discover and enjoy.
