Elderly man dies after collision in Gungahlin carpark

A 90-year-old man has died after his car was involved in single vehicle collision in a Gungahlin carpark last week.

At about 11:30am on Monday 23 March, police responded to reports that a silver Toyota Camry had collided with a fixed pillar in the underground carpark at Gungahlin Village.

The driver, a 90-year-old man, was treated at the scene by emergency services before being taken to hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, he passed away early this morning, Monday 30 March.

If the death is determined to have resulted from injuries sustained in the collision, it will be counted as the seventh ACT road fatality for 2026.

ACT Road Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dash-cam footage and has not already spoken with police, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers ACT via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 8342232.
