Elizabeth Anton has been crowned Canberra United Player of the Year following the club’s traditional end-of-season Awards Night, held at the QT Hotel in the city.

Anton joined United at the start of the 2024/25 Ninja A-League season, making her debut in green in Round 2 in her homeland of New Zealand — a 1-0 win over Wellington Phoenix at Porirua Park.

The composed defender went on to make 19 appearances this season, including scoring the winning goal in the Round 14 victory over Perth Glory at McKellar Park.

The prestigious Ellie Brush Players’ Player of the Year award was claimed by goalkeeper Sally James, an ever-present in the squad who played every minute of the season bar ten — missing only the tail-end of the match against Western Sydney Wanderers. James was named Player of the Match in Round 2 (Wellington Phoenix), Round 17 (Melbourne City), and Round 22 (Wellington Phoenix again). She was later added to the Matildas squad as a train-on player for the matches against Korea Republic.

The Rising Star Award, presented to the best U20 player at the club, went to ultra-consistent defender Tegan Bertolissio. In the 2024/25 season, Tegan made 22 appearances, taking her total to 37 games for the club. Her industrious performances earned her a call-up to the Young Matildas and, later, a spot as a train-on player with the senior Matildas squad for their fixtures against Korea Republic.

Meanwhile, the Members’ Player of the Year award went to fan favourite Hayley Taylor-Young, who was named Player of the Match an incredible seven times across the season — a remarkable feat. She was jointly awarded in Round 3 (Adelaide United), and named solo winner in Round 8 (Newcastle Jets), Round 13 (Newcastle Jets again), Round 14 (Perth Glory), Round 18 (Melbourne Victory), Round 20 (Sydney FC), and in the Elimination Final against Central Coast Mariners.

Finally, the Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Jeremy Herzog for his ongoing dedication and commitment to helping out at McKellar Park on matchdays.
