A Braddon barber has expanded its offering with the launch of what it says is Canberra’s first dedicated men’s barber and spa, combining traditional barbering with skincare, grooming and wellness treatments under one roof.
Founder Shaun Fanaeian said the idea for FANAEIANS Barber and Spa grew from conversations with longtime clients and overseas travel, where dedicated men’s grooming and wellness spaces are more common.
For many men, he said, visiting a day spa can still feel unfamiliar.
“Traditional day spas don’t always feel welcoming to men,” says Shaun. “We wanted to create a professional, comfortable environment where clients can access precision barbering alongside grooming, skin, nail and wellness treatments in a space designed for men and an inclusive for all.”
The new Braddon business offers services including facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and wedding grooming packages alongside its barbering services.
It has also partnered with Australian organic skincare brand Sodashi, incorporating the company’s products into treatments and becoming the first Canberra business to stock its certified organic retail range aimed at common men’s skincare concerns, including shaving irritation, sensitivity and dehydration.
Shaun believes attitudes towards men’s self-care are continuing to change.
“From the way your hair is cut to the condition of your skin or the presentation of your hands, self-care isn’t about luxury, it’s about investing in yourself and how you show up every day,” says Shaun.
He said many clients are looking beyond a haircut alone.
“Our clients want to feel polished and confident, whether that’s through a sharp haircut, healthier skin or a manicure before an important meeting. How we feel about ourselves influences how we show up for others in business, in our relationships and in everyday life. When people feel confident, that confidence carries into every interaction,” says Shaun.
To mark the launch, FANAEIANS is offering complimentary skin consultations during launch week, including personalised assessments of skin type, concerns and skincare goals with tailored treatment and home-care recommendations.
FANAEIANS Barber and Spa opens on Thursday 13 August and is located on Lonsdale Street in Braddon.
