Goodwin raises $42,000 for dementia research

Goodwin Aged Care Services has raised an impressive $42,000 for dementia research as part of their campaign for the Dementia Memory Walk & Jog, taking place this Sunday 23 February at Lake Burley Griffin.

Goodwin is a State Sponsor for the 2025 event, partnering with Dementia Australia to raise vital funds and awareness.

“This event holds immense significance for Goodwin and the Canberra community,” says Stephen Holmes, Goodwin CEO.

“We’re committed to supporting those affected by dementia and this walk is a vital opportunity to unite our community in this important cause.”

Goodwin’s ‘Suburb Showdown’ initiative, a friendly fundraising competition between their Canberra and Batemans Bay locations, has spurred widespread community involvement.

“It’s been inspiring to see the support from our residents, families, and local businesses,” says Sarah Lewis, Executive Manager, Residential Care and Memory Walk & Jog Ambassador.

“From cafés to pubs, everyone is joining the movement.”

The funds raised will support Dementia Australia’s vital research and support services. Goodwin provides specialised dementia care services in Ainslie, Farrer and Batemans Bay, and offers ongoing support to families. The Memory Walk & Jog is a key event in Goodwin’s ongoing commitment to supporting those affected by dementia. Join Team Goodwin this Sunday to walk for a future free from dementia.
