Hit 104.7’s Ned & Josh axed from breakfast show

After almost six years bringing laughter to the nation’s capital, Hit 104.7’s Ned & Josh have reportedly been cancelled from their breakfast show.

Sources informed Canberra Daily that last Friday, Ned Breward and Josh Torney did their breakfast show as per normal, before the leadership team at Amplify CBR allegedly locked them out of their office and advised them it would be their last show on the station.

On Facebook, Ned & Josh have changed their profile picture, removing all mention of the Hit network but keeping their branding as a duo. This morning, Hit did the same across all their socials.

The duo no longer appear on the 104.7 website, with the link to their show redirecting back to the homepage.

Ned and Josh were set to celebrate six years on air together in December after taking over the coveted breakfast slot in 2017.

Sources have contacted members of the media to say that this has been the worst day in Amplify history.

“These guys didn’t even know that Friday was their last show,” said one.

The pair were seen entering the building for a meeting following the news together with another radio colleague. On their way out, a generic email was sent telling staff they were not allowed to say anything, sources said.

“Changes have been made on the Hit 104.7 Breakfast Show with current duo Ned and Josh finishing up on the station on Friday 27 October 2023 after a six-year tenure,” a spokesperson for the station said today, Monday 30 October.

“AmplifyCBR management acknowledges and thanks Ned and Josh for the role that they have played in the Canberra community over their time, and sincerely wish them well for continued success in their future endeavours.

“An announcement regarding the new local show line-up for Hit 104.7, commencing in January 2024, will be made this week.”
