Join the Junior Zookeepers of The National Zoo & Aquarium to celebrate, raise awareness and raise funds for amazing conservation initiatives happening all around the world. 

Over the course of a year-long program, junior zookeepers learn about animal husbandry, breeding programs, and the role that Zoo can take to protect many endangered species from all around the world.

This weekend celebrates our milestone Conservation Celebration Weekend event, where junior zookeepers deliver educational talks, participate in enrichment of our animals, and run a handmade market stall to engage with the public and to raise funds for three worthwhile conservation efforts that they have researched and chosen over the course of the year so far.

Join us in the celebration this weekend by booking an encounter with a favourite species, completing the Periled Populations scavenger hunt, and join us for the Conservation Cake Cutting with slices sold for a gold coin donation.

To get your child involved in the zookeeper program, book a one-off Keeper for a Day session in August and if it’s right for you, join us for Zookeeper 2026 where we will continue to expand, learn and grow!
