A 34-year-old Lyons man has been arrested following a pursuit through Weston Creek early today.
ACT Policing said about 4.20am this morning (Wednesday, 27 August) police were patrolling Waramanga when they encountered a silver Holden Commodore sedan.
“The driver of the Commodore failed to stop for police and a pursuit was commenced,” an ACT Policing statement said.
“During the pursuit, the Commodore crossed to the wrong side of the road, exceeded the speed limit and repeatedly drove without headlights.
“Police deployed stop sticks and the Commodore eventually came to a stop after colliding with a Stop sign near Cooleman Court.
“The vehicle was driving on its rims when it collided with the sign.”
ACT Policing said a 34-year-old Lyons man, who was subject to an arrest warrant by the Sentencing Administration board, was subsequently arrested nearby.
“A female passenger was also arrested at the scene,” the statement said.
“The man was charged with aggravated reckless driving, driving while disqualified and failure to stop for police. He is expected to face court later today.”
