Man charged after alleged armed robbery at Tuggeranong bottle shop

A 40‑year‑old Theodore man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a Tuggeranong bottle shop last night.

At about 7pm yesterday, Wednesday 11 March, a man allegedly entered a liquor store inside the South.Point shopping centre in Greenway. Police will allege the man produced a knife and demanded cash from a staff member.

The staff member complied, and the man left the store a short time later with a sum of cash.

About 8:30pm, police received information that the man was travelling on a bus in Woden. Officers located the bus in Mawson, where they arrested the man.

Police searched the man and located two knives before transporting him to the ACT Watch House.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, Thursday 12 March, charged with aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon and possessing a knife without a reasonable excuse.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery and has not already spoken to police. Anyone who can assist is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.  Please quote 8326160. Information can be provided anonymously.
