A 33-year-old man will face court today for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking after he was found in a stolen motor vehicle this morning.
“About 7am this morning (Friday, 22 August 2025), officers from City Police Station were conducting patrols in Acton when they observed a white Fiat 500 driving on a bicycle path,” a statement by ACT Policing said.
“A vehicle check indicated that the Fiat was reported stolen.
“Officers activated their lights and sirens and the vehicle failed to stop.
“A short time later, police lost sight of the man when he exited the Fiat and entered the driver’s seat of a white Mazda3.
“About 7:30am, police saw the man walking across Edinburgh Avenue onto Phillip Law Street.
“Upon sighting police, the man ran into a parking complex.
“Police located him soon after and he subsequently resisted his arrest.”
ACT policing said police member observed that the man was no longer in possession of a black backpack he was carrying earlier.
About 8am officers located the backpack and conducted a search of the bag seizing:
- 3x car keys
- A knife
- A screwdriver
- A balaclava
- Two torches
- Approximately $2,355 of cash
- Drug paraphernalia
- Prescription drugs
- 10.5 grams of white powder suspected to be cocaine
- 21 grams of white granules suspected to be heroin
- 0.1grams of pink powder suspected to be ketamine
- 34.2 grams of crystalline rock suspected to be methamphetamine
- 15 millilitres of clear liquid suspected to be butanediol
ACT Policing said the man – who was subject to bail conditions at the time of his arrest – was charged with failing to stop for police, drive motor vehicle without consent, resist arrest, drug trafficking and going equipped for theft.
He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
Police enquiries are continuing with further charges expected.
