A 25-year-old Hughes man has been charged after allegedly assaulting his partner.
About 3.00pm on Friday, 9 January, police were called to a residence in Hughes where a man allegedly kicked, bit, and strangled his partner.
The man, who was on parole, was arrested a short time later and transported to the ACT Watchhouse.
He faces the ACT Magistrates court today (Saturday, 10 January 2026) charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated common assault, and strangling another person.
ACT Policing said it stands ready to assist victims experiencing family violence.
