From Monday 1 September 2025, ACT Senior Card holders are required to either create a MyWay+ account or use a MyWay+ travel card when using Transport Canberra bus and light rail services.
ACT Senior Card holder concession discounts remain the same on public transport. ACT seniors over 70 still enjoy free travel at all times, while ACT seniors aged 60-69 (who work fewer than 20 hours per week) and all interstate seniors can travel for free during off-peak times.
The combined ACT Seniors/TC MyWay card is retired and will no longer work on public transport. However, please keep your current ACT Seniors Card to continue accessing other benefits.
ACT Seniors Card holders can get a physical MyWay+ travel card at a number of MyWay+ retail outlets. MyWay+ cards are free for all ACT Seniors and those who have a Seniors Card issued by another state or territory.
Simply visit a retail outlet near you and present your ACT Seniors Card to get a MyWay+ travel card. The retail outlet agent will apply your seniors concession to your new MyWay+ card. You’ll still enjoy all the benefits you had with the old system and travel just like before.
Once you’ve got your MyWay+ card with your concession applied, you don’t need to do anything else. Just top up and go!
If you’re using a MyWay+ account and purchasing a MyWay+ card online through your account, make sure to apply your seniors concession before completing your purchase. This will allow the system to adjust the price automatically. You will then receive a free MyWay+ travel card by mail.
Creating an account or downloading the MyWay+ app offers benefits like personalised settings, transaction history and journey notifications. You can also link your concession to your MyWay+ travel card and manage your concession status through your MyWay+ account.
Simple and easy step-by-step instruction videos are available on the Transport Canberra website. Alternatively, call 13 17 10 if you need assistance.
