One dead, teenager injured in motorcycle crash near Braidwood

A man has died following a motorcycle crash near Braidwood, with a teenage rider airlifted to Canberra Hospital.

Emergency services were called to reports of a crash involving two motorcycles on Araluen Road, Araluen, about 25 kilometres south of Braidwood, at around 8:55pm on Wednesday 17 December.

The 25-year-old male rider of one of the motorcycles died at the scene before emergency services arrived.

The rider of the second motorcycle, a 14-year-old boy, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Bungendore Hospital. He was later airlifted to Canberra Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police from the Monaro Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Police have confirmed the two riders were known to each other and were travelling together at the time of the crash. Both motorcycles were unregistered.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area at the time and may have dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact Queanbeyan Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
