Ngunnawal man killed after being struck by light rail vehicle

A 49-year-old Ngunnawal man has become the fourth ACT road fatality for 2025 after being hit by a light rail vehicle.

About 7:15pm last night, Saturday 27 September, police and emergency services responded to a collision between a light rail vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Barton Highway in Downer.

Emergency services treated the man at the scene before he was transported to hospital with life-threating injures. He was sadly declared deceased a short time later.

ACT Road Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the circumstances of the collision, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
