A pro-Palestine protest is planned to take place in Canberra’s city centre and Parliamentary Precinct tomorrow, 9 August.
The march is expected to begin in the city at midday before moving along London Circuit, across Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, and finishing at the Parkes Place Lawns.
Minor traffic disruptions may occur along the route. Drivers are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
ACT Policing says it supports the right to peaceful protest, but notes that any disruption to business activity or criminal behaviour will not be tolerated.
Traffic updates will be provided as needed via ACT Policing’s social media channels.
The Canberra protest follows a major demonstration in Sydney last weekend, where approximately 90,000 pro-Palestinian supporters marched across the Harbour Bridge, calling for an end to the conflict and expressing solidarity with civilians in Gaza.
