Raiders to weather the Storm when NRL restarts

The Canberra Raiders will take on the Melbourne Storm in their first match in over two months, when the NRL recommences in round 3.

The NRL today announced the much-anticipated fixtures for rounds 3 and 4 only.

Several blockbusters are lined up over the first two weekends back, including two tough games for Canberra.

The Raiders’ first game on Saturday 30 May is a rematch of last year’s famous qualifying final where Canberra came from behind to beat the Storm in a thriller in Melbourne.

This round 3 match will also be played at AAMI park.

Both the Raiders and Storm resume the season having won both of their matches before play was suspended and have set themselves up to be premiership contenders once again this year.

In round 4, the Raiders will take on another undefeated side in the Newcastle Knights.

The Knights impressed in the first two weeks with dominant wins against the Warriors and Tigers. The fullback matchup of Kalyn Ponga vs Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad will have fans salivating.

Another two unbeaten sides will face off to restart the season with the impressive Broncos looking for a sliver of revenge for last year’s humiliating 58-0 loss to the Eels in last year’s finals.

The oldest rivalry in the game will be reignited with the Roosters and Rabbitohs to square off for Friday night footy in round 3.

The Broncos will once again kick-off round 4, this time against the winless Roosters.

Two top-four sides from last year, the Storm and Rabbitohs, will play each other on Friday night in round 4.

A Queen’s Birthday match between the Bulldogs and Dragons will bring a close to the first fortnight of NRL action.
