Road closures due to burst water main in City West

Icon Water are working to have roads reopened in the City following a burst water main at the intersection of Barry Drive and Marcus Clarke Street.

ESA Media advised that due to water on the road, both westbound lanes of Barry Drive and both southbound lanes of Marcus Clarke Street are closed.

Repairs to the burst main are underway and were expected to take around six hours, however ,due to the extent of road damage caused by the burst, those repairs will take additional time.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. Further updates will be available on Icon Water’s twitter feed and the www.iconwater.com.au homepage.

In a media statement, Icon Water advised they are unable to predict faults such as burst water mains. Water mains can break due to a number of factors including age, soil condition, and interference.

“As faults are reported to us we respond as quickly as possible,” the statement said.

Icon Water would like to apologise for the disruption caused and thank the community for their patience.
