Glav Corp’s Sierra development sits on the highest point in the Gungahlin Town Centre, with 360-degree views of Canberra and the Brindabellas.

Glav Corp general manager Neil Barancewicz says the developer has taken careful consideration of the surroundings and incorporated generous terraces and balconies to take full advantage of the views.

“We wanted to create a different type of building for Gungahlin, one that subverted the tradition of apartments on top of shops, one that listened to the needs of the greater community, and also created different types of commercial opportunities,” he says.

Mr Barancewicz says Sierra residents should feel they are a part of a community and a neighbourhood, with the building designed by JUDD Studio Architects to reflect this. Interiors have been designed by architects Turco and Associates.

The development consists of 152 one-, two- and three-bedroom residential units and three commercial tenancies. There is also a large ‘end-of-trip’ facility as the development sits so close to the Gungahlin light rail terminus and the amenities of the Town Centre.

“This facility has evolved to become a place to grab a coffee, have your bike stored or repaired, have a shower on your way to work, or use the light rail to get to the city,” Mr Barancewicz says.

The apartments have also been designed with working from home in mind, he says, with 12 live-work units.

“We integrated a whole level of flexible live-work apartments, anticipating a need for people who want to live and work at a more local level,” he says. This is also reflected in the podium, landscaped gardens and open spaces.

“We have also ‘future proofed’ the building for both residential and commercial tenancies with a dedicated drone delivery area on the rooftop of the building.”

There are more than 40 plan types to choose from, and the building’s unique shape and topology has allowed a design that has something to suit every buyer.
