South Jerrabomberra launches its new state-of-the-art Town Park and Community Centre

The Village Building Company, in partnership with the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC), is proud to announce the official opening of the South Jerrabomberra Town Park and Community Centre — an exciting milestone in the growth of this thriving new community.

Spanning more than 2.5 hectares, the new Town Park is set to become the region’s leading family recreation destination, offering an impressive range of amenities for residents and visitors alike.

Among its highlights are the region’s largest free splash pad, a learn-to-ride track complete with traffic lights and signage, and a large all-abilities playground featuring swings, slides and nature play elements.

The park also includes an outdoor gym, half basketball court, Village Oval, BBQs and picnic shelters, and ample shaded areas to ensure year-round enjoyment. Lighting throughout the park enhances accessibility and safety, while toilet facilities, seating areas, and landscaped open spaces make it the perfect spot for family days, community gatherings and weekend markets.

The new Community Centre, located adjacent to the park, provides flexible spaces for events, workshops and social gatherings. It includes four function rooms, two kitchens, and a dedicated bar area, catering for a wide range of community and private events.

Bookings for the Community Centre will be managed by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, with facilities available for use immediately following the launch.

Sustainability has been a key focus throughout the design and construction process. The Community Centre features solar panels with on-site battery storage, allowing it to operate largely off-grid. The system also supports lighting and the splash pad within the Town Park, reducing reliance on the electrical network and aligning with Village’s commitment to sustainable development.

The Town Park Launch Event will be held on Saturday 15 November from 10am to 2pm, featuring a ceremonial opening, live entertainment, food stalls, kids’ activities, outdoor games, and giveaways. The event follows the successful Dog Park Opening on 27 September, marking another major community milestone for South Jerrabomberra.

The Town Park and Community Centre has been supported through the NSW Government’s Regional Job Precinct Program with some $150,000 for the Learn to Ride facility.

“This project is a shining example of what Village stands for — building innovative, thriving communities that bring people together,” said Rob Fisher, Deputy CEO of The Village Building Company. “The South Jerrabomberra Town Park and Community Centre aren’t just facilities; they’re spaces designed for connection, activity, and a genuine sense of belonging. They reflect our ongoing commitment to creating places where families can live well and communities can flourish.”

Jamie Cregan, General Manager ACT, added, “Delivering the Town Park and Community Centre marks a proud moment for everyone involved. These facilities give residents a place to gather, celebrate, and enjoy — whether it’s kids learning to ride for the first time, families cooling off at the splash pad, or neighbours catching up over a weekend barbecue. It’s about building a community that grows together.”

NSW Minister for Regional Development and local resident, Tara Moriarty said:

“Today marks a wonderful milestone for the community, especially for the hundreds of local families who will enjoy this outstanding new park for many years to come.

“This expansive park is set to become a place where children of all ages can explore, splash about in the water play areas, and learn to ride along the fantastic bike tracks.

“In the years ahead, friendships will be formed and community spirit strengthened as people come together here to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions in this beautiful setting.

“Congratulations to the Village Building Company and the Council for creating a space that will bring lasting joy and be a true asset to our community for generations to come.

“It is exciting to see the Town Park and Community Centre become a reality supported through the NSW Government’s Regional Job Precinct Program.”

Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Mayor Kenrick Winchester said:

“I am really proud that our region has beautiful parks that our community enjoys, and the new Town Park in South Jerra adds to that great tradition.

This park is for everyone, and I’m sure the growing South Jerra community will love relaxing, playing, and connecting here.

Congratulations to Village for developing such a great space — I look forward to the community enjoying it for many years to come.”

The Town Park and Community Centre will be followed by the construction of the South Jerrabomberra Town Centre, which is set to commence in early 2026, with opening anticipated in 2027. Once complete, the Town Centre will provide residents with a supermarket, cafés with outdoor dining, retail outlets, and specialty stores — creating a vibrant lifestyle hub at the heart of the community.
