Goodwin Aged Care Services has released 56 new retirement living apartments at Goodwin Village Monash at a VIP event on Thursday 23 July.
The Next Stage Monash development will add 32 two-bedroom and 24 three-bedroom apartments to the established Tuggeranong retirement community. The homes will be spread across three two-storey buildings, with lift access, secure basement parking and private storage.
Goodwin executive manager retirement living, property and development Erik Boddeus told guests demand was already running ahead of the limited number of homes available.
“We may have to do some form of a ballot or allocation process because of limited supply and significant demand,” Mr Boddeus said.
The comment came as guests examined floor plans, apartment locations, pricing and artist impressions, and spoke with Goodwin’s retirement living team about the buying process.
Prices presented on the day ranged from $725,000 to $810,000 for two-bedroom apartments and from $930,000 to $1.2 million for three-bedroom homes. Goodwin advised that the prices were current on release day and could change.
The apartments have been designed for people who want to continue living independently while preparing for changes in their needs. Wider doors, generous bedrooms and bathrooms, adaptable interiors and emergency call systems are among the features intended to make later modifications simpler.
“The apartments are all built to accessibility and adaptability standards,” Mr Boddeus said. “If people’s mobility needs change in the future, the building doesn’t have to change dramatically.”
The all-electric development will include induction cooking, ducted heating and cooling, double glazing, ceiling fans, solar panels for common-area electricity and infrastructure ready for electric-vehicle charging.
Its design draws on the surrounding landscape and is intended to fit comfortably within the existing Monash village rather than appear as a separate enclave.
Residents will have immediate access to the facilities and social life of an established community. Goodwin Village Monash includes a cafe, theatre, gym, wellness centre, craft and activity spaces, a men’s shed and other shared facilities.
The village clubhouse will also be enlarged and renovated before the apartments are completed, creating bigger activity areas, an expanded cafe and kitchen, more staff offices and changes to the theatre. The works are intended to help the village accommodate the additional residents.
Mr Boddeus said retirement living should be considered as more than a property transaction.
“This is about an investment in your lifestyle,” he said.
Despite the strong response, he told prospective residents they would be given time to consider the decision and obtain legal and financial advice.
“We don’t want to put any pressure on anyone,” he said. “It’s a big decision.”
The apartments are expected to be completed in January 2028. Mr Boddeus told the audience they could spend “two more Christmases” in their current homes before making Monash home.
With immediate interest following the release, Goodwin is now moving through applications and apartment preferences for the next major expansion of its long-established Monash community.
