Today is the start of DonateLife Week (23–30 July), and Canberrans are encouraged to register as organ and tissue donors.

As DonateLife Week approaches, 23-30 July, Commonwealth Games winner Chloe Hoskins is among the local cyclists aiming to raise awareness for organ donation rates across Australia, which are yet to recover from the hit taken during the pandemic.

Canberrans can ‘leave a light on’ from 6pm to mark the fourth annual National Donor Heroes’ Night in support of organ and tissue donation.

DonateLife ACT will be able to share stories that promotes the importance of conversations about organ donation.

Canberrans can join the Great Registration Race this DonateLife Week and register to be organ and tissue donors.

Four out of five people in the ACT say they agree with organ donation, yet just 25 per cent of Canberrans are actually registered.

From today, families of organ donors will have the option to have their loved one’s donation recorded on the death register and on the donor’s death certificate.
