Thinking of treating yourself to some lingerie?

Here are a few things you should keep in mind before you splurge on something fabulous.

Burlesque star and owner of an eponymous lingerie line, Dita Von Teese, says first-time buyers can’t go wrong with a black lace set.

“Black lace is so elegant and sexy and looks good on everyone.

“However, once you’ve taken the leap, don’t be afraid of bold, exotic colours that pop!”

She says buying the right size is absolutely crucial – “buy the size that looks and feels good” – pay no mind to the size on the tag.

“Just because your lingerie is glamorous and sexy, doesn’t mean it has to be uncomfortable.

“Quality is important when buying lingerie,” she says. “You want pieces that will last, continue to look good and keep their shape.”

If you’re buying for someone else, make sure you take with you some lingerie they already own so you can get their style and size right the first time.
