Witnesses sought after alleged assault and threats near Lake Ginninderra

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an alleged assault that occurred earlier this month near Lake Ginninderra in Belconnen.

At about 5:45pm last Thursday 2 April, two women were confronted by a young person who allegedly made racial comments towards them on Macdermott Place.

The women spoke to the child before the child’s mother, who was not known to them, confronted the pair and allegedly punched one of the women repeatedly in the head.

Following the assault, it is alleged the mother produced a knife and made threats to the victim and her friend before leaving the scene in a dark grey Ford Falcon sedan.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe there were witnesses to the incident, and there may also be dashcam footage from the area at the time.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers via its website, quoting reference number 8345990.
