A 41-year-old Narrabundah woman has been charged after making non-emergency Triple Zero calls overnight.

About 2:35am this morning (Monday 5 January 2026), the woman called the Triple Zero police emergency line to report a matter that was not an emergency.

She then called the emergency line seven more times in an hour, allegedly becoming verbally aggressive during the calls and swearing at the operators.

About 3:45am, police arrested the woman at her residence. During the arrest, the woman allegedly did not comply with directions and resisted officers.

The woman faced the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday 5 January 2026) charged with using a carriage service to harass and resist territory public officials (knowingly).

ACT Policing said: “It is an offence under ACT and Commonwealth legislation to make a false report to police, to cause police or other emergency service resources to be wasted or to use a telephone service to harass a person.

“Inappropriate use of the Triple Zero number can potentially delay the response to those in genuine need, such as those who are in a life-threatening situation.”
