Every December, neighbourhoods across Canberra come alive with homes that pull out all the stops — glowing rooftops, giant inflatables, music, colour and a whole lot of imagination. These are the streets families return to year after year, turning a simple drive into a December tradition.
Read on to find the best displays in your area, you’d be surprised just how many there are hidden around! With charity collection buckets scattered throughout, it’s a wonderful chance to enjoy the magic of the season while giving back to local causes.

Canberra Northside Christmas light displays
Forde
Huddy Street is a must-visit for Christmas lights lovers, with the entire strip getting into the festive spirit—there’s even a food truck! The street features a beautiful display of decorations and lights to keep the kids entertained. You’ll find singing Santas, Grinches, and other cartoon characters, including ones from Star Wars. Take a stroll down the drive and enjoy the lights and sounds.
3 Cleggett Street features a walk-through display with music, bubbles and interactive elements. Visitors can see singing Santas, a Grinch, animatronic Mickey, Donald, Minnie, Bluey, Bingo, Star Wars characters and more, plus statues and a nativity scene. Donations collected on-site support the Starlight Foundation.

Ngunnawal
A handful of homes at the end of Burraly Court have teamed up again to put on a colourful cul-de-sac display, with each house adding its own mix of lights and decorations. It’s an easy one to walk through and take in from multiple angles. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.
Beela Place’s whole front and side is intricately decorated with colourful lights, Christmas statures and festive music to listen to as you explore the walk-around displays.
Burraly Court puts on a strong street-wide display, with more than a dozen houses taking part and a mix of lights, inflatables, projections and walk-through areas. Music adds to the atmosphere as you stroll between homes and check out the roof lighting and front-yard setups. Parking is limited, so it’s best to walk in; donations support Karinya House.

Dunlop
Percy Begg Circuit features a walk-through display with large inflatables at the entrance and plenty to explore as you move through the yard. Visitors can sit in Santa’s sleigh for photos, post letters in the mailbox and take a look at the detailed Lemax village set up on-site. Snow flurries run during the evening sessions, with lights operating from 6:30–10pm, 4–26 December. There’s plenty to explore!
Triton Street has several houses with Christmas light displays, so make a night of exploring everything they have to offer. From inflatables, colourful lights covering the house, room and trees, music playing and moving decorations, there’s plenty to help you enjoy the Christmas cheer.
Scurry Street often has multiple houses lighting it up, but this one particular house has a multitude of lights and inflatables, and being a corner house, it’s enjoyed by all those passing by. The owner loves bringing people together, especially seeing the children’s faces. If it’s not raining, you’ll even get to see the 5-metre Santa and reindeer. The street claims 2025 will be the biggest year yet!
Ainslie
You can’t miss the large display of inflatables at Foveaux Street, including Santa, elves and gingerbread men, plus plenty of colourful lights. The large display is active all day, too, as the owners love to spread happiness and cheer.
Canberra Southside Christmas light displays
Fisher
As one of the best places to see Christmas lights this year, Fisher has numerous Christmas light displays on offer. You can’t miss Ballarat Street with its bright and colourful display, perfect for families to explore every nook and cranny. With inflatables, statues and inflatables, all donations support the Starlight Foundation.
A light-covered tunnel leads up the driveway at 25 Ardlethan Street, with a hanging Santa welcoming visitors. Two storeys of lights overlook a garden filled with inflatables, including a giant Santa, a kangaroo, native birds, a gingerbread man and even a turtle. An inflatable arch photo spot sits out front, while a six-metre overpass with another Santa stretches over the street.
Gowrie
Middleton Circuit offers a full walk-through setup with lights, window scenes, inflatables and projections, plus interactive toys for kids and regular Santa visits. There are gifts, raffles and plenty of handmade treats for sale, including rocky road, rum balls and Christmas crack. Donations continue to support cancer charities, with many families returning each year.
While there, also make sure to head over to another of the best Christmas lights Canberra at Ruthven Street, with it being one of the largest solar light displays in Australia! Walk around, dance to festive music and support the owners’ chosen cause of multiple sclerosis.
Stacy Street puts on a bright, packed display with tens of thousands of lights, moving reindeer, lasers and several four-metre inflatables. It’s a popular stop in Tuggeranong and easy to walk around. This is their final year fundraising for MS, with donations and raffle tickets available on-site.

Gordon
Gordon is a good spot for Christmas light lookers, with one house in particular sure to wow kids and adults alike down at Callaway Crescent! This year the lights flow down from the side of the house and disperse out into the garden.
Oxley
The stunning light display at Newman-Morris Circuit features a light show that is synchronised to music, so you can sing and dance while you take in the dazzling lights, that use over 46,000 LED pixels. With lit-up arches, stars, candy canes, snowflakes, trees and a large matrix, it’s a great display for all ages!
Conder
All the lights at Eaglemont Retreat are synchronised to Christmas music, so make sure to tune into 93.5FM while here. Up and close, there are also singing props for the kids, like Bluey and Minions figures.

Calwell
Last but not least, O’Connor Circuit brings out a big, bright setup with plenty to look at as you wander through the yard. A giant gingerbread man and a full-sized Santa sleigh make easy photo spots, and the gingerbread house marked as Santa’s workshop adds a fun centrepiece. A solid walk-through for anyone touring Calwell.
