Scentre Group and Perron Group have announced a $21 million redevelopment at Westfield Woden, with the focus on a new dining precinct on Bradley Street.
Adjoining the Hoyts Cinema complex, a range of food retailers will join the existing vendors, with late trading hours.
Malcolm Creswell, ACT Regional Manager Centre Experience, Scentre Group, says there is a significant demand for an elevated dining experience within the Woden area.
“Our vision is to make Westfield Woden a vibrant dining destination; a place to gather, relax and enjoy with family, friends and colleagues during the day and into the evening.”
The precinct has been designed around the retention of existing trees, with added landscaping and pet-friendly areas. The external walls will feature locally commissioned Indigenous artwork and street art.
The redevelopment will also include upgrades to the existing food court and amenities, and is expected to open in early 2019.
Safety upgrades for ACT roads
Six dangerous road locations in the ACT are set for upgrades over the next 12 months, after an announcement of $744,200 in federal government funding through the Black Spot Program.
“Funding has been allocated to improve six road locations identified as high priority, with 31 casualty crashes recorded at these sites over the five years to 2016, including one crash involving a fatality,” said Assistant Minister for Roads and Transport, Scott Buchholz MP.
Senator for the ACT and Chair of the ACT Black Spot Consultative Panel, Zed Seselja said the national Black Spot Program targets roads where crashes are occurring, and reduces the risk by introducing safety measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at dangerous locations.
“The Coalition Government has committed $744.5 million to the Black Spot Program from 2013−14 to 2021−22 to improve road safety across the nation.
“The Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) has found that, on average, Black Spot projects reduce the number of crashes causing death and injury by 30%.”
Roads will be upgraded in Forrest, Booth, Turner, Crace, Pialligo and Florey.
