Teens arrested after crashing stolen car into front yard of Nicholls home

Two teens will face court after crashing a stolen vehicle into the front yard of a Nicholls home yesterday morning.

About 9.10am yesterday 5 March, police received reports of two Toyota sedans travelling at high speed on the Tuggeranong Parkway.

Police located one of the vehicles on Gungahlin Drive and followed it into Nicholls – observing two teenagers in the front seats.

Police activated their lights and siren and the teens accelerated away, failing to stop for police. Shortly after, the vehicle crashed into the front garden of a home in Anne Clarke Avenue, Nicholls.

Multiple police resources attended the area and two boys aged 17 and 16 were arrested nearby.

The 16-year-old was charged with fail to stop for police, dangerous driving, drive a motor vehicle without consent, property damage and cannabis possession.

The 17-year-old was charged with riding in a motor vehicle without consent, trespass and weapon possession.

Both are scheduled to appear in the ACT Children’s Court later this month.

Police are seeking any dash-cam footage of a dark coloured Toyota sedan driving at speed before 9.30am yesterday.

Anyone who can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.  Please quote 7369013.
