Three hundred Canberrans gathered to listen to the words of British cardiologist Dr Aseem Malhotra, who called for the suspension of the mRNA vaccinations pending an inquiry. Dr Malhotra is known in the UK for challenging the model of healthcare he says is geared towards treating symptoms with medication while ignoring the lifestyle changes that would improve mental and physical health.


Helping new Canberra mums with a cuppa and kindness

Canberra mums Shireen Leonard and Sarah Ingram founded Pop the Kettle On, a service to help mothers adjust to life after childbirth. While the friends and colleagues are both midwives, their business offers kindness, cleaning, child minding and a friendly chat over a cuppa to aid new mums.


Knights, dragons and steeds to ride into Queanbeyan this spring

The first Queanbeyan Medieval Fair was announced to be making its way to our region with promises of entertainment and food of years gone by. Event coordinator Henry Carter told CW of plans to bring knights and combat demonstrations to the Queanbeyan Showground along with blacksmiths, archers and an abundance of ale and meats.

In related news, the announcement that Post Malone would be stopping in Canberra during his world tour was welcomed by fans.


Why the ACT Government wants Calvary Public Hospital

After last month’s announcement that the new ACT government-owned Northside Hospital would replace the Calvary Public Hospital in Bruce, some members of the public weren’t thrilled. CW’s Nick Fuller broke it down for our readers and explained why the ACT Government wanted to take over the existing hospital.  


ACT Government passes legislation to stop dangerous driving

The ACT Government made moves to crack down on dangerous driving as they passed the Road Safety Legislation Amendment Bill 2022. Last year, Canberra saw its worst annual road toll in a decade with 18 deaths. ACT Minister for Transport and City Services Chris Steel said dangerous driving was a significant contributor to this. The legislation gave ACT Police the power to immediately suspend the licence of and seize the vehicle of drivers caught going more than 45km per hour over the designated speed limit.
