Police seeking assistance on suspicious Queanbeyan fires

Police are seeking the publicโ€™s assistance for information on two suspicious fires that happened across two separate incidents in Queanbeyan last year, believed to be linked.

About 6:30pm on Saturday 31 August 2024, emergency services were called to a fire at a home in Jordan Place, Queanbeyan.

Fire and Rescue NSW officers responded and extinguished the blaze, which caused minor damage.

About 12:50am on Tuesday 17 September 2024, emergency services were called to another fire at the same home.

Fire and Rescue NSW officers responded and extinguished the fire, which caused significant damage.

Officers attached to Monaro Police District responded to both incidents.

Strike Force Wildensee was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the two fires, which police believe were linked.

Following inquiries, police released a CCTV image of a vehicle which was seen in the vicinity of the August fire.

Officers believe the vehicle and a man seen in the vicinity at the time may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of thin build, around 30-years-old. At the time he was wearing long pants, a hooded jumper and was carrying a backpack.

The car is described as grey Hyundai Santa Fe with roof racks.
