Local art on The Block

Jerrabomberra artist Kathleen Rhee artwork Everything is Gonna Be AlrightNo.1 and No.2 series was recently featured on The Block in Tess and Luke’s winning studio apartment. Rhee’s art is a series of two gentle blue abstract seascapes. Her work is represented by Art Lovers Australia, one of the key art suppliers to The Block 2019.

Design auction

The DESIGN Canberra Festival (4-24 November) is giving design-lovers the chance to have their own piece of contemporary Canberra design with the festival’s third annual design auction. The Design Auction Party is on Friday 8 November 8pm at the Fitters Workshop, Kingston. Limited edition and one-off pieces from Canberra’s leading designers will be displayed on the night, highlighted by an experimental lighting design installation by Matt Adey of House of Vnholy (Dark Mofo).

Make a succulent centrepiece

Create your very own succulent log centrepiece to take home and keep on your Christmas table at an event hosted by Lil’ Seeds Co on Saturday 9 November 4.30-6.30pm at Sunday in Canberra Café, Gungahlin. Your ticket includes a succulent log centrepiece demonstration by Bing Sulit, materials and instructions for your own creation, and a Christmas feast.

Ikea buy-back service

Ikea Australia has announced a national roll-out of their furniture buy-back service which enables customers to return their old Ikea furniture to be sold to a new owner. The national launch comes after a year-long trial at Ikea Tempe. The new service, where customers receive a gift voucher in exchange for their preloved furniture, is expected to save up to 15,000 pieces of furniture from landfill each year. Customers can find out the buy-back [voucher] value of their piece of furniture by visiting ikea.com.au/buyback and following the steps online.
