Late-night Kambah pursuit ends in arrest

A 26-year-old man has been charged with multiple driving offences after a police pursuit in Kambah late last night.

Around 10:10pm on Friday 27 December, officers patrolling the area noticed a red Volkswagen Golf weaving through traffic. When directed to stop, the driver ignored the police instruction, speeding through a red light in an attempt to evade capture.

The pursuit continued through Kambah until the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Shortly after, police apprehended the man in the backyard of a nearby property.

The man, who was already under a good behaviour order, has been charged with failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving under the influence, and driving while disqualified.

He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, 28 December.
