Man arrested attempting to move drugs and cash into Alexander Maconochie Centre

A 42-year-old Holder man will face court this morning after being arrested allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs and cash into the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC).

About 11.15pm last night, Sunday 30 October, police observed an individual wearing black pants and a black hoodie pulled over their head walking across the AMC grounds.

Upon seeing police, the man ran in the direction of the Monaro Highway, however he was arrested following a short foot pursuit.

He will face a total of seven charges – two counts of take prohibited thing to correctional facility, and single counts of traffic in large quantity of controlled drug, traffic in controlled drug other than cannabis, trespass on government premises, intentional threat to inflict grievous bodily harm, and possess offensive weapon with intent.

Police will oppose bail.
