Canberra Raiders young gun Trey Mooney will make his NRL debut for the club in their clash against the Sydney Roosters on Sunday afternoon.
The 20-year-old forward has been knocking down the door for selection after some impressive NSW Cup performances and will now get his chance in first grade off the bench.
Canberra will be without stars Josh Papalii and Jack Wighton as they prepare to start in the opening State of Origin game next Wednesday.
Papalii’s absence sees Corey Horsburgh named to start in the front row, with Corey Harawira-Naera coming onto the bench after being dropped two weeks ago.
With Wighton out, Matt Frawley comes back into the starting side and will partner halfback Jamal Fogarty in the halves for the first time.
The Roosters will be without three key players on Origin duty, with captain James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou and Lindsay Collins are missing.
Joey Manu will cover Tedesco at fullback with Kevin Naqiama coming into centre and Billy Smith onto the wing. Egan Butcher returns on the bench.
