A total of 20 deaths have been recorded in NSW and Victoria as new COVID-19 cases across the country from the highly-infectious Omicron variant amounted to almost 95,000.
The ACT has recorded 1,039 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night as positive rapid antigen tests can now confirm infections in Canberra.
Dancing at nightclubs, hospitality and licensed businesses in the ACT will be banned from midday tomorrow and elective surgery at Calvary Public Hospital will be postponed as the ACT Government implements additional mandatory public health measures in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.
