18yo to face ACT court for Conder home invasion and stabbings

An 18-year-old man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today in connection with a violent home invasion earlier this month, during which the male and female residents were stabbed multiple times.

About 8am on Saturday 4 May, a woman answered the door of her home in Conder when a man allegedly pushed his way inside and stabbed her several times.

The man and three other men then allegedly assaulted the male occupant, stabbing him as well.

The group fled the scene a short time later.

Police and ACT Ambulance Service paramedics attended the scene, and the victims were transported to hospital with significant injuries.

Following police enquiries, and with assistance from officers from NSW Police Force Mount Druitt Local Area Command detectives, the 18-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Tuesday 28 May) in Arndell Park (NSW) and extradited to face court in the ACT today (Wednesday 29 May).

He will be charged with aggravated burglary, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally inflict grievous bodily harm and possess an offensive weapon with intent.

Investigations into the identities of the other men involved in the incident are continuing.

Anyone who has information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 7740305. Information can be provided anonymously.
