Today, a 19-year-old man is set to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court charged with alcohol theft and assaulting another man in an unprovoked incident in Dickson last night.

At approximately 8pm yesterday, 22 April, police were called to a Dickson bottle shop after reports of a man stealing drinks and leaving without payment.

By 10pm, another report emerged of an assault by an individual fitting the description of the earlier suspect.

Shortly thereafter, a man resembling the suspect in the CCTV footage from the bottle shop was found nearby and taken into custody.

He faces charges of two counts of minor theft and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.

Police also suspect his involvement in further crimes that night, including an attempted armed robbery at a takeaway shop and another assault resulting in a stabbing.
