23 of Canberra’s best restaurants pick up chef hats for 2024

The Australian Good Food Guide rolled out their coveted Chef Hat awards for 2024 this week, with 23 Canberra restaurants making the list.

The Chef Hat Awards adopt a distinctive rating system, focusing exclusively on the quality of food at restaurants across Australia. The system scores restaurants out of 20 and is predicated on several key factors, all of which pivot around the culinary offerings.

Topping the list of restaurants in the ACT was Table by Canberra Gourmet. The Greenway restaurant picked up two Chef Hats with a score of 15, one point higher than they achieved last year.

Les Bistronomes, Otis Dining Hall, The Boat House, and Raku Dining were the next best local restaurants with scores of 14 each.

Seven Canberra establishments were recognised with a score of 13, including Pilot, Monster Kitchen & Bar, Onzieme, Inka, Alcove, Vincent, and Rebel Rebel.

Picking up a score of 12 was Morks, Temporada, Brunello, Pomegranate, Waters Edge, Bar Rochford, Courgette, Italian & Sons, Corella Restaurant and Bar, Mu, and Such and Such Restaurant.

Across Australia, only three restaurants picked up the top 19 points: Vue de Monde in Melbourne, Restaurant Botanic in Adelaide and Oncore by Clare Smyth in Sydney.
