23-year-old man dies after falling from raft at Casuarina Sands

A 23-year-old man of Pakistani origin has died following an incident at Casuarina Sands earlier this week.

On the afternoon of Sunday 26 November, the man and two other men were floating in rafts on the Murrumbidgee River. About 4.50pm, the 23-year-old man – who police understand was an inexperienced swimmer – fell out of his raft and disappeared underwater.

The man was pulled from the water a short time later by members of the public, who commenced CPR until emergency services arrived at the scene.

He was transported to hospital, however sadly died earlier this afternoon, Wednesday 29 November.

ACT Policing will prepare a report for the coroner.
