31-year-old man arrested after abduction attempts in Mawson

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after attempting to abduct two women near Athllon Drive in Mawson on Saturday 22 June.

About 2:45pm, a woman was walking her dog northbound on the path adjacent to Athllon Drive, Mawson when a man attempted to grab her before walking away.

Following the interaction, the man continued walking southbound, however turned and began to follow the woman a short time later.

About 3:10pm on the same day, a woman was running southbound on the greenbelt adjacent to Athllon Drive, Mawson.

As she ran past a man walking in the opposite direction, the man grabbed her and attempted to pick her up and carry her away.

Following a short scuffle, the man dropped the woman and fled the scene on foot.
